What's the best main city for running to AH/bank for Horde?

My vote goes out to either Orgrimmar or Thunder Bluff.

Orgrimmar has a short ride from the portal, a mailbox right in front of the Auction House and the bank in short running distance. I am voting TB second, but only because you can't mount up right from the portal. TB has the added advantage of having a forge right by the Auction House.

During the time I was playing horde I always favored Orgrimmar. This was my personal preference due to the close proximity between the AH, bank, and mailbox. Also, has Kadomi mentioned it's a fairly short ride from the portal to the other areas. I also had several friends who always used Silvermoon City. I never used it much myself, however, so I can't give a personal comparison between that and Orgrimmar.

Orgrimmar. Theres post box right outside AH, and one by bank as well. If druid can travel form to bank easy. Silvermoon is longer walk, and TB comes in close second Org has advantage of being main city as well for any /2. trades

Thunder Bluff, but only if you park a bank alt there, don't bother running over with your main. The bank & the AH is super close, and it's infinitely less laggy than Orgrimmar, especially around world events like Brewfest where you have some yokel running through every 30 seconds advertising beer. :)

Grab a lvl 1 Tauren and run him into Thunder Bluff, and bobs your uncle. Now, not only do you not need to go to TB, you can empty your bags from any city, saving you runs to Dalaran as well. If you feel particularly amusing, dress him up in something nice. Mine, for example, has a pair of snazzy tinted glasses and a diamond tipped cane. :)

That said, if you're going from the portal... yeah, Orgrimmar is a bit better for the closeness of the portal. I still maintain that a well dressed bank alt is preferable, though.

I would agree with Thunder Bluff for a bank alt or parking a main. But for easy mage/portal access then I would agree with Org.

I tend to use UC, usually for the simple reason that you can travel everywhere mounted. In Org you'll get dismounted everytime you visit the AH and again when you visit the bank. TB is slightly better in that it only dismounts you when you visit the bank.

UC by far, not Org or TB. You get dismounted both at the bank and AH in Org, and at the bank and central totem at TB (when you have to go see a profession npc on a higher rise). You get dismounted exactly nowhere in UC.

UC benefits:

1. Never dismounted anywhere.
2. Auctioneers closer to bank than Org, about same distance as TB.
3. Mailboxes by every auctioneer and at the top of each ramp leading to the bank.
4. 2 trade goods sellers and 1 reagent vendor on the upper ledge near the bank.
5. Profession trainers not too far away on the outer ring.
6. Portal from Dal/Shat is about as far away from bank/AH as Org, much closer than TB (and you're not dismounted when you arrive as you are at TB).

There's just no comparison in terms of efficiency, UC wins. Now, like TB it's also pretty deserted, so if seeing and being seen, or doing business face-to-face (trade chat opportunities), matter more to you, you should probably stick w/ Org.

As an Engineer I just stay in Dalaran because the steam powered auction house is right by the north bank.
