What's a good priest name?

I'm currently transferring to a new server, and I'm trying to come up with a good name for my Blood Elf (Discipline) Priest - I play Arena's. I have tried literally everything I can think of, even trying to garnish ideas from dictionary.com's thesaurus function.

Any help would be appreciated!

My preferences:

1.) The name should be something short, no longer than 3 syllables

2.) I like for the name to work well when using a title (Ex. Faeth of the Sen'jin - it sounds like a reference to their religious belief)

3.) I like the name to fit the class appropriately (Ex. Medic, Phd, Doctor, Surgeon etc.)

Currently, the best I have is "Plasebo" (I had to substitute the C for an S - stupid level 13 gnome mage alt!)

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

should this kind of thing be community wiki? – Antics (Oct 23 2009 11:08 AM)

Yeah it should be, its subjective and has no definitive answer. Converting! – ♦♦Jesta (Oct 23 2009 11:17 AM)

One tip: If the character holding the name you want is a low level alt on an inactive account, you MAY be able to get a GM to release it. I was able to do this to get Feist without a goofy 'í' released when I transferred to a new server. It's worth the 5 minutes of your time to open the ticket!

I didn't know this! I'll try it out. – Faeth (Oct 23 2009 11:09 AM)

I also recommend this. I was able to free up the name Rachel on my primary server by opening a GM ticket. The GM may not know about this policy, so you may need to open a couple tickets if the first one blows you off. – Rachel (Oct 23 2009 6:28 PM)

There are many many ways you can go for a name. Here are just a few:

  • Use a name from mythology. Greek, Roman, Norse, etc. There are many mythological characters associated with warriors, healing, magic, etc.
  • Look up words in foreign languages. You may like the way "healer" or "priest" sounds in Latin, Spanish, French, etc.
  • Look up terms related to your class or spells.
  • Make up a name. Try the name generators at Seventh Sanctum or Google "name generator."
  • Or as you said, go for a name that sounds good with a particular title, guild name, or arena team.

Whichever route you choose, one thing I would do is follow the following guideline: If your name is more than two syllables, people will refer to you by the first or first two syllables. So don't name your character "Anahirats Warstaff" unless you want to be known as "Anna." =)

In the spirit of Blizzard not wanting pop culture names but using names such as Haris Pilton, I suggest HoogieDowsr. I think that's under the character limit on names...

Empathy seems fitting for a priest. And if you're shadow, well.. there's some irony, eh?

I found creating mine that all the mythological names I liked were taken, not wanting to resort to umlauts or other unicode travesties, I simply mixed up two of the mythological names until I found one I liked.
