Addon to move buffs

With 3.3, the previous addon I was using for this (Buff Fluffer) broke and has not yet been updated, so I'm looking for a replacement.

What I need is an addon that moves the buff frame.

I don't need one that styles it, or rearranges the buffs, or anything of the sort. (If it does that as an extra, but it can be turned off, works for me, but I'd rather it were a simple mod.)

It must be compatible with the new Consolidate Buffs feature, as I actually like that a lot.

All I want, in short, is an addon that will let me unlock the buff frame, drag it (as a single block containing buffs, debuffs and temporary weapon buffs - not three separate ones) where I want it, and lock it and have it stay put and then I just forget about it.

Thanks for asking this. I also wanted a very simple mod to do just the move and found too many addons that did much more than I needed. I also tried out Buffalo3 which was just flaky (some logons it would work, sometimes not). – bookworm13 (Dec 9 2009 1:36 PM)

What addon were you using before out of curiosity? – ♦♦gnarf (Dec 9 2009 5:22 PM)

There probably is an addon out there that does only what you're looking for, but as a rule of thumb the best addon to use for moving any frame in the game is FluidFrames. The addon does one thing, and thats let you relocate any frame on the screen.

From the instructions:

  • Assign a key-binding [Main Menu > Key Bindings > FluidFrames > Highlight Mouse Frame] to select, highlight and cycle through frames under the cursor. (The "Highlight All Mouse Frames" binding cycles through all frames under the cursor, including unnamed ones.)
  • Put your cursor over the frame you want to move and use the key-binding. It will select the frame the furthest underneath. Consecutively using the key-binding will highlight frames closer to the front. Hold shift while using the key-binding to cycle backwards through the frames.
  • Drag the highlighted frame to relocate it permanently. It will disable movement from other code sources and save across sessions.
  • Hold shift and drag from the sides or corners to resize.
  • Hold shift and drag the bottom right re-scale icon to re-scale.
  • Right-click to reset a moved/resized/rescaled frame once highlighted.

FF also has a nice feature of making any UI window with a title bar draggable.

Sadly it is only available through WoWInterface and not on Curse.

+1 for useful solution. Wasn't hoping for anything this useful this soon - I hadn't founded a "move all frames" addon that worked, even. Might even end up marking this as best answer if nobody else comes up with a more specific addon. ♥ – Aeliel (Dec 9 2009 1:22 PM)

Just curious if you tested this after 3.3 as the last update for the mod was done in 04-16-2009. – bookworm13 (Dec 9 2009 1:35 PM)

Yes, I used it just last night to move the quest objectives panel, since for some stupid reason Blizzard decided to make it unmovable again. – Wridel (Dec 9 2009 2:38 PM)

Marking as best answer for the time being. Especially since it also helped me move that bloody quest objective panel as well. – Aeliel (Dec 9 2009 5:31 PM)

I've never heard of this addon, but I am definitely going to seek it out when I have the chance. – Xiera (Dec 10 2009 9:55 AM)

SatrinaBuffFrame is an addon dedicated to nothing but Buff/Debuff frames. It allows for almost complete customization, including which buffs to display, whether to include timers (numeric or bar) on the buffs, what size the buff icons are, how many columns/rows are available for the buffs, and so much more.

It is usable out of the box, but if you want to do some advanced configuration, it does take a bit of time to set up.

Also, if you need assistance in setting up the addon, the addon website is extremely helpful and contains both FAQs and configuration instructions on the site.

Second SBF. Love how you can set it up to display the buffs in the normal spot, but when they drop below 30s duration, move them down to a more visible spot front and center, reconfigure into a duration bar, and make it flash the buff to warn that it's about to expire. SBF is infinitely configurable, anything you can think of you can do. – Nightfreeze (Dec 10 2009 3:30 PM)
