How does a T9 hunter survive Onyxia's landing after P2?

We run 10 man Onyxia, and recently (since acquiring badge gear) I have been having issues when she lands after P2. Our strat:
P1: run up on her right side and pewpew lots until she flies up, leading to
P2: I shoot Ony, unless I'm AoEing whelps or helping bring down the big adds (I also shoot at her in between these two tasks, trying to keep SerpSting up at least).
P3: Ony lands, has aggro on me and cleaves me in one fel swoop

I did not have this issue when I was less geared than I am now (I currently have 4xT9), even though I did grab aggro on her in P2 then as well. This is not hugely surprising as the tanks are busy elsewhere...but I'm not sure why I'm no longer surviving her landing. The last 3 times we've done this I've been one-shotted right at that moment. We haven't made any significant raid composition changes, nor have I changed my 'rotation'.

Is there a way around this? Perhaps I should be changing my shot priorities? Should I not be keeping Serpent Sting up (because of the 2xT9 set crit bonus)? Should I be MDing onto the tank right before she lands? Or is it just a matter of timing an FD?

I have DBM and Omen, but I haven't noticed a big fat warning saying she's about to land. This makes estimating when to MD/FD a bit tricky :)

Step 1: Don't stand under the dragon when she's landing

Step 2: Feign Death

Step 3: There is no step three.

Seriously tho, there is no reason anyone but a tank should ever die when that dragon hits the floor. Watch her health, it's pretty clear when she's about to drop. DBM, BigWigs and Deus Vox Encounters all have warnings when she hits 40%. Hit FD, check Omen to make sure your threat table is clear (since she can resist it) and then come up with a misdirect to the tank.

Tsk tsk, that is not the only meme with steps in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHzM4avGrKI – Wridel (Jan 29 2010 10:39 PM)

See... that was from before they called them memes... A classic, if you will. – Nehi (Jan 29 2010 10:42 PM)

This, just feign as she approaches 40%. Even if you're not paying especially close attention to her health, if you're paying attention to when she yells (*"It seems you'll need another lesson, mortals!"*) you should still have a few more seconds to feign before she actually lands and fears. – Aeliel (Jan 30 2010 3:08 AM)

Misdirect as she lands. She gives a very obvious audible cue when she is in the process of landing (at which point her threat wipes), and you have at least 2-3 seconds between touching down and using Bellowing Roar to fire a few shots before the fear resolves and ensure that your MT has a threat lock.

Furthermore, if you're uncertain of your threat, Deterrence will block her normal melee swing and her cleaves.

There's no need to time the FD - just hit it as she approaches 40%. There's no threatwipe at any point in the fight, so as long as your FD isn't resisted, you should have trouble catching back up to the tank if you feign late in P2.

Oh, the threat wipe was removed when they revamped her? Well don't I feel stupid. – Rilgon Arcsinh (Jan 30 2010 12:18 AM)

Pretty sure there's never been a threat wipe. If there was, there'd be no need to FD at all - just treat it like pulling a boss or an add that comes in - MD and go, FD if the tanks threat gen is slow. – Feist (Jan 30 2010 2:56 PM)
