Say I have a lvl80 Horde toon with lots of gold. I've just rolled a new Alliance toon and would like to xfer some gold between the two characters.

WoW won't let you mail cross-faction, so how is it done?

Simple answer: You can't do that, except by faction transferring.

There's a trick you can use with the Neutral AH: Post a grey item for the amount you want transferred, and buy out with a char on the other faction. That character must be on another account, since you cannot bid or buyout auctions posted by your own account. You should also note that the neutral AH takes 15% of your total price (as opposed to the 5% on the faction AH).

 Just to clarify Jorn's answer, if you don't have two accounts you will need to give the money to someone else and have them buy the item off the Neutral AH. – Wridel Feb 7 at 17:32
