I'm planning on starting a new baby rogue (probably undead, with PvP BoA gear) and level it in battlegrounds.

I've looked for good specs, but can only seem to find "regular" PvE leveling specs or twink specs (that assume you're highest level in the BG with BiS gear). Also, I'm currently leaning towards a Subtlety spec, but at least in lower levels it seems to have quite a few useful talents, and I'm not sure which ones would be better. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good build?

My advice is to choose the spec you have the most fun with. This will help keeping you interested. The answer to which talents to choose depends on your play-style. Take the ones you think will help you the best and stick with them. If you find yourself bored think about trying out assassination.

No matter how good a spec is PvP wise, if you aren't comfortable with it or it's boring, it won't be good for you.

This advice is especially apt since, depending on your faction's win/loss record, experience gain through BG's may be slower than questing. So pick a spec you enjoy playing, since leveling through BG's is not about speed or efficiency but rather a fun alternative to repeating quests! – Wikwocket Apr 21 at 1:15

I suggest first picking up the steath improvement talents that passively increase your stealth and detection of stealth.

Camouflage Master of Deception Heightened Senses

I recommend focusing on these talents for a few reasons. Firstly, Subtlety (which is what you said you wanted to focus on) relies heavier on Stealth than the other two trees will. Not saying that the others dont depend on stealth in a PVP setting, just that subt. is huge on burst dmg and w/o heightened stealth and stealth detection you'll be spending more time out of stealth then you'll want to be. That being said, i would recommend a build similar to this. Now, what was said by posters before me is true for pvp...there is nothing set in stone. I would recommend picking up any talent your gut feels you need. You'll have plenty of time to play around with the differing talents and should be able to find which fit your playstyle. Rogues are extremely versatile and there are plenty of successful talent builds for you to experiment with.

I hope this helps a bit...scraped it together while at work so ask if you need anything elaborated on.

Another note id like to point out...once you get higher in lvl (and subsequently gear) i have found it more benifical to pick-up the "Setup" talent over the "Initiative" talent. The only downside ive noticed is if your not careful you could potentially lose built up combo pts. on a target when attempting to CC another. – DankDarko Apr 25 at 23:24
That's actually part of what I'm not so sure about - all the stealth talents are really hard to quantify in terms of how useful they are. If the chance of being detected while stealthed is very low or too high, then the talent won't make much of a difference. I suppose there's no way of telling other than actually trying it out, though. – anotheralt Apr 27 at 3:07
The talents (in pvp) help you out relative to the other classes and their stealth detection. Its an invisable game of tug-o-war. thats why races such as NE and Humans make it a bit easier to battle stealth vs stealth...your adding another layer of stealth from racials (whether it be stealth detection as with the human, or improved stealth as with the NE) – DankDarko Apr 30 at 4:51
