I didnt start playing WoW till after WoTLK came out, well all those emblems of justic i got i didnt really have anything to do with. Will we see something in Cata that would make it possible to upgrade those emblems so they arent just rotting away in my inventory?

Totally not meant to insult, but god, 'Emblem of Justice' reminds me of just who long I've been playing this game and kinda makes me feel like an oldster. – Feist (Aug 2 2010 3:39 PM)

I remember at the start of the expansion lots of people were calling EoH and EoV Badge of Heroism and Badges of Valor. – Woldo (Aug 2 2010 4:13 PM)

A friend of mine called them Badgers which has stuck with me. Then Cataclysm came out and she switched to Elbows. I think the change to points in Cataclysm will hit her hard since she has no comic name for them. – Dobablo (Aug 3 2010 2:14 AM)

I suppose that she could refer to them as Jogger Pandas and Honor Pandas...just throwing that out there. – Spazmoosifer (Sep 17 2010 10:12 PM)

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Blizzard doesn't like giving ways to upgrade any old currency so they can prevent people from stockpiling them to get an advantage. They have nothing against letting people downgrade though. The only thing I can think they would possibly do is add a mount for a certain amount and even then it is probably abysmally low on the To-Do list as Badges of Justice are from outdated content.

Edit*It appears Blizzard has changed their minds on this issue and will be upgrading Emblems of Triumph and Frost in to Justice Points (Cataclysm low tier currency), and other outdated currency will be converted to gold. You can read more at the posts on MMO Champion, Explanation here and conversion calculator here

I agree it's probably not going to happen, but it's a nice idea. I like getting a free mount just because I've been doing all the Outland achievements for heroics and raids. – Jorn86 (Aug 2 2010 3:41 PM)

Oddly enough, it is happening! EoT and EoF are being converted into cataclysm T1 PvE points, and all the PvP related items are being converted into cataclysm T1 PvP points. – Dobablo (Sep 15 2010 4:44 AM)

Yeah when I heard that it really surprised me, mostly because I had seen a few blue posts saying that they preferred expansions to be fresh starts and gear resets without older players having a distinct advantage. – Woldo (Sep 17 2010 4:08 PM)

Blizzard is planning to turn Emblems into a point system, similar to how Battlegrounds give Honor points. The top tier of raiding will give Valor points, while heroics and the lower tier raids will give Heroism points.

What they do with the Badges from BC depends on how far back they want to consolidate things. Wrath instances and raids will definitely be converted into the two point system, as 4.0 will change things before Cataclysm comes out, but BC is up in the air. If they do end up converting BC into points, it will likely only be the heroics and raids, and most people don't stay in Outland to run heroics at 70. Additionally, if you do try to run random heroics for the BC instances, you'll quickly outlevel them, so you can't stockpile very much.

As for higher level players going back and farming easy heroics for points, there's the fact that they're also missing out on the gear and useful items that would be dropping from appropriate level dungeons. Plus the fact that a good deal of classes could probably solo Wrath heroics at 85 anyway.

All in all, I'd say it's likely that Badges will be turned into points, giving you some small head start towards a piece of gear at 85. On the off chance they decide not to convert them, there's always uncut epic gems. They'll sell on the auction house to people leveling jewelcrafting if nothing else.

So close to a good answer, but I'll have to mark if down because of the first line. Emblems are not being turned into a points. The Emblems will remain as a legacy of L80. – Dobablo (Aug 3 2010 2:17 AM)

Turns out that EoT and EoF are being turned into Justice Points (PvE Tier 1) and all older PvE bits are being converted into gold. (http://blue.mmo-champion.com/t/26850245012/cataclysm-currency-changes-explained/) – Dobablo (Sep 15 2010 4:42 AM)
