New Prot Pally Rotation?

I was playing on the PTR today finally for the first time and checking out the new talents and stuff.

If you're pro Prot let me know but does it seem to go with this as a Rotation?

Judge, Consecrate, Avengers Shield, Crusader Strike (always Avenger shield first cuz if talented your CS or Hammer of Righteous can proc an Avengers Sheild) Holy Wrath.

I'm debating on just allowing 1 Holy power to stack up and use Shield of Righteousness every time it pops up since it can only be used now with Holy Power.

give it that single and multi targets use a slightly different rotation. it seems like you'd have to use Avengers shield before CS or HotR just in case one of the two procs Avengers shield.

if you allow only one holy power to stack you get a bonus of 20% AP on your Shield of Righteousness and that doesn't seem bad to me.

3 stacks gives you a 125% bonus but is that necessary?

Currently there isn't really a rotation, more of a priority list. That will change on the beta according to blizzard's posts on their forum.

The current priority system is up for debate, but here is what I've had best results with. Opening up you should use AS & Judge, then fall into the priority system listed below

(Single Target)

  • SotR ( when you have 3 HP ) > CS > AS > Judge > Holy Wrath > Concecrate

(Multi Target) Basically just replace a few things.

  • Inquisition ( when you have 3 HP ) > HotR > AS > Judge > Holy Wrath > Consecrate

Some places are putting AS first on the priority list, but the remainder is the same.

:EDIT: Wanted to expand on the 1 stack vs 3 stack question.

SotR scales with stacks of Holy Power. So lets say you have 5000 attack power. (nice easy number to work with)

  1. Stack - 1000 Damage
  2. Stacks - 3000 Damage
  3. Stacks - 6000 Damage

Currently CS is 4.5 second cooldown, it will be lowered to 3 seconds per blizzard though. So below is the DPS per stack based on PTR | Beta

  1. (1000 damage / 4.5 seconds) = 222DPS . | 333DPS on beta
  2. (3000 damage / 9 seconds) = 333DPS . . .| 500DPS on beta
  3. (6000 damage / 13.5 seconds) = 444DPS | 666DPS on beta

Yes, SotR will do 20%, 60%, or 120% of your attack power depending on stacks. Inq will last 4 seconds per stack. You could use it at one stack at the very beginning of the fight to get Holy shield up, but after that you should wait for 3 stacks. – Slowcat (Oct 5 2010 6:09 PM)

after re-reading your first post I want to explain that SotR will only do 20% of your attack power, NOT a 20% bonus. So the difference is huge, you'll do 6 times the damage at 3 stacks. – Slowcat (Oct 5 2010 6:17 PM)

On the PTR with 3 stacks of holy power I crit with SoR for 7800 which is nice but I'm not getting a heal for a % of my strikes. 5000-7800 SoR hits every 30 sec doesn't seem impressive. Would it not benefit for threats sake to hit SoR after every CS? I'd have to check the numbers but what would the numbers say if you hit SoR after every CS for the amount of time it takes to stack 3 holy power and using SoR – JohnnyTorrance (Oct 5 2010 6:23 PM)

Lets say you have 5000 attack power. At one stack the BASE damage of SotR will be around 1000. At 2 stacks it will be about 3000, and at 3 stacks it will be about 6000. So if you used it at one stack ever time it would be 1000 damage ever 3 seconds (2 GCD) or 333 DPS. If you used it at 3 stacks it would be 6000 damage every 10.5 seconds or 571 DPS. 571 > 333 MATH says use at 3 stacks. (The PTR is less dramatic since I don't think they've made CS 3 seconds like promised on the beta) PTR would only be 400 DPS, but even that is better than 333. – Slowcat (Oct 6 2010 6:20 AM)

See above, also 30 seconds for 3 stacks is an exaggeration, You have 2 free GCD between each one, and per the priority list it should be used EVERY CD unless you have 3 stacks, which you shouldn't, or AS is ready. – Slowcat (Oct 6 2010 6:39 AM)
